Rhino Medical is seeking a board-certified or eligible Neurosurgeon for an ongoing locum tenens assignment supporting inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery services in Eureka, California.

This role involves managing complex spine cases within a modern hospital setting, including clinic and call responsibilities with scheduled shifts from 8:30am to 5:00pm and night on-call coverage from 5:00pm to 8:30am. Candidates should have recent case volume, CA license, and FLURO certification (temporary acceptable).

The environment supports outpatient clinic workflows and hospital-based surgical and consultative care, with modern infrastructure to facilitate efficient and comprehensive neurosurgical practice.

Coverage Details

  • Schedule: Clinic and call coverage
  • Call: Weeknight beeper and 24-hour weekend beeper
  • Dates of need: 11/21-12/09 and 12/27-01/06
  • Shift times: 8:30am-5:00pm (clinic); 5:00pm-8:30am (night call)
  • 24-hour weekend call coverage during scheduled periods

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery care
  • Management of complex spine cases
  • No airway certification required
  • Certification in FLURO (temporary acceptable)
  • Submission of 100 cases in past 24 months for privileges
  • Documentation and compliance with privileging requirements, including 2 years of current hospital activity in the specialty

Candidate Requirements

  • Active California medical license
  • DEA registration
  • Board certified or truly board eligible within 3-5 years of residency (preferably BC)
  • Current CV with hospital affiliations uploaded
  • FLURO certification (temporary acceptable)
  • Privileging requirements: 2 years of current hospital activity in neurosurgery with explanation for gaps over 3 months
